3.3 Hebrew Accents. Hebrew words are usually accented (stressed) on the last syllable. What this means is that the force of pronunciation is usually given to the last syllable. Using דָּבָר as an example, the stress or force of pronunciation falls on the last syllable, בָר (ḇār). Cultivating the ability to stress the last syllable in Hebrew words will be difficult for most of us since we typically stress the first syllable in English.
